FAQs

What is House of Empowerment?

House of Empowerment is an independent membership and verification program that assesses NDIS providers against clear quality and safety standards. Approved providers earn verified status that helps participants, families, and referrers choose with confidence.

Are you part of the NDIS Commission or the government?

No. House of Empowerment is independent and not affiliated with the NDIS Commission or any government body.

What does “Verified” actually mean?

“Verified” means a provider has been independently assessed against our standards and approved for membership based on the evidence provided and review outcomes. Verification may include ongoing requirements to maintain status.

How does the verification process work?

Apply → Upload Evidence → Assessor Review → Approval or Gap Training Required → Verified + Monitored (where applicable).

What do you assess to determine quality?

We focus on practical, evidence-based areas such as governance, staff screening and competency, participant safeguards, incident management, service documentation, complaints handling, and continuous improvement.

How long does assessment take?

Timeframes depend on the tier selected and how quickly evidence is submitted. Once your documents are complete, assessment typically progresses faster.

What documents will I need to upload?

Usually: key policies and procedures, staff screening/training records, incident and complaints processes, participant safeguarding practices, and supporting compliance documentation (exact requirements are provided after application).

What happens if we don’t meet the standard?

If you’re not approved initially, you’ll receive a clear pathway outlining what needs improvement. You can address the gaps and re-submit evidence.

Can verification be removed?

Yes. Verified status can change if standards aren’t maintained, if required updates aren’t completed, or if serious issues are identified. This protects participants and keeps verification meaningful.

Do you list verified providers publicly?

Yes, approved members may be listed in our Member Lookup so participants and referrers can verify status. (Providers can control what contact details appear publicly.)

Is verification the same as being a registered NDIS provider?

No. Verification is not the same as NDIS registration. It’s an independent quality and standards assessment designed to add clarity and trust.

What are membership tiers?

Tiers reflect different depths of assessment and review. Each tier has its own evidence requirements and verification scope (outlined on the Membership Tiers page).

Who conducts the reviews?

Assessments are completed by independent assessors using a consistent standards framework and evidence checklist.

How do you handle privacy and documents uploaded?

Documents are stored securely and used only for assessment and membership administration. Access is restricted and handled under our Privacy Policy.

How can participants check whether a provider is verified?

Use the Find a Verified Provider page to search by name, location, and tier (where available). A provider’s profile shows their current status.

How do I contact you?

Use the Contact page and we’ll respond as soon as possible. If you consent, we can also contact you by phone/SMS regarding your enquiry.
